Our Human suggested that a quote about it taking a common enemy to unite us might be apropos for our blog today, but when we came upon this one from one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence, we knew it was the right quote for us. And that it was right about a whole lot more than "us" and our "sitiuation" with our visiting neighbors:
A general dissolution of principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy. While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but when once they lose their virtue then will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader.
-- Samuel Adams
Here's to principles and manners and to liberty and freedom.
Happy Fourth of July!

Happy 4th to all of you!
You are very noble indeed to be so polite to the invaders.
You have been quite the excellent hosts!

PS My Mom told me to tell you that you live just "down the road" from us. We are up here in Jacksonville!
Your house looks like the kind of place I would like to visit. Hope the scary 4th of July booms didn't scare anykitty too much.
Boy, they have made themselves right at home! I would never allow this!!

This must be visiting season. Almost everybody whose blog I visit either has peep company or fellow cat company. Some of you got new brothers and sisters too. I'm jealous. I'm still an only cat here with nobody to talk to but Sam the Dog...Stoopid Dog...and the peeps are putting him outside every day when the weather is nice, 'cause he loves to be outside. Gotta go. Talk to you soon.
Wow, they look furry comfortable in your living room. You're nice to share with them. We hopes you all had a good 4th anyway!
